hello all, just found this site yesterday. i have been reading feverishly since. i'm a life long fan of preston tucker and his wonderful automobile. i find preston tucker to be a great source for inspiration. realisticly, the only tucker i will ever own is the 1/18th scale die cast i have. but, a guy can dream i guess. i have owned a few old cars. i am a big fan of 50's customs. i currently own a chopped 50 merc which should be on the road this spring.

i contacted ida automotive as soon as i heard about their tucker. he told me that they would only sell them turn key with a cadillac northstar in rear for $125,000. i thought why bother? why dosn't someone build a quality kit to sell? you can buy so many different cars made from fiberglass.

i read a story years ago in a magazine about a guy in memphis,tn. he found a tucker rotting on a riverbank in the memphis area. he aquired the car( i don't know if he just took or bought it, but, he got it) had it in his garage for years up on jack stands. he comes home from work one day and the garage door is open and the car is gone. and he hasn't seen it since. anyone else heard anything about this?

i have had the pleasure of seeing a tucker in person. a few years ago a guy from chicago brought his to evansville, in. to the my classic car car show. i talked to him for quite a while. the car was a wonderful medium blue color. he also said he had another one at home that needed restored. he was a younger guy and really knew tuckers inside and out. the car was also featured on an episode of "my classic car".

i won't be able to add much to the board probably just ask questions. but, i look forward to the wealth of information here.

The Memphis Tucker was scrapped. Efforts to find the remains in any of the junkyards in the area have proved fruitless.
